Please don’t be fooled! My life is pretty boring, in fact, I even stole the title for this post from the wordpress.com subheader, but anyhow.. I had a recent conversation with a friend about a journal that she had kept over the summer. She was telling me about how reading it over again really made her laugh over some of the things that she had forgotten, then I commented on how I didn’t want to forget my experiences (though they are few and far between).. and blah blah blah, we are here. I’m too lazy to write, so I think typing is the next best thing! In addition, I’ve been reading Joanna’s blogs lately, and they’ve encouraged me to do my own thing. Contrary to the guise of my blog’s name, my life has no romance at all. Instead, I took the name from my old blog, and there is really no point in getting into how I decided the name for that. If you would like to read embarassing things about a COMPLETELY different stage in my life, feel free to visit: http://thegreatromance.blogspot.com. I can’t believe that nearly 5 years have gone by since I started that thing. I look back at some of my old entries and I remember what my life was like.. I’m glad that it’s not like that anymore (I know, what an ambiguous statement). Well, this time I have opened a new account again because I want a fresh start. Hopefully this will be the last, I don’t want to have a bunch of disjointed memories.
As I’m now studying for my Classics course, I’m reminded of the time that I took Ancient World History in high school. We had a class tournament playing this game called “Civilization”. I think at the time the version of the game was Civilization II, so there was none of this current fancy 3-dimensional business, THE GAME WAS IN OLD SCHOOL 2D.. it looked something like this:

HIDEOUS, right?! but it was so much fun. The object of the game was to create and manage a civilization – seriously guys, it was a lot harder than it sounds. I remember that I was doing REALLY well when my friend Siamak raped one of my best cities. I got SO MAD. The issue I had over this was the fact that he didn’t take or make use of any of the wicked resources that I had worked so hard for, instead he burned everything to the ground. He totally destroyed my city for no reason! What a little shit disturber
I was dumb and naive, of course, since I hadn’t built any fortifications. It was obvious that NO ONE would DARE initiate an aggressive attack in a game about WAR and INVASION, DUH! Now that I look back, I find the whole situation hysterical, and I completely understand why he did it – because he could, so why not? I also recall that two of my classmates (Siamak was one of them again, oh how I loved him), got into an all out fist fight over this stupid game.. also HILARIOUS.
Unfortunately, I don’t think this game will help me pass my exam, so I guess I should get back to studying!
