As I was studying the Battle of Thermopylae today, all I could see was Gerard Butler screaming “THIS, IS, SPAR-TA!”  His enunciation of those 3 words are still ringing around my head.  I started to giggle (in the library, no less), when I saw his muscular, hairless (because Spartans shaved, OBVI.) leg plunge poor Peter Mensah down into the deep and dark abyss.

Anyhow, before I disappoint Joanna.  THIS IS NOT A STORY, just some of my thoughts, there is no climax, no moral, no point.. just my brain farting!

SO, back to my story-ish story, I am in the library studying all this ancient history.  After watching the movie, I remember thinking, WOW HOW ENTERTAINING.  AND NO, not in my sarcastic tone (neither is this)!  (Seriously, everyone NEEDS to watch this movie atleast once in their lifetime.)  It was only after a while that I began to realize.. YES, this actually happened in a similar fashion way back when – despite the fact that I knew that it was part of history (duh, I should know what the word history implies).  I mean, there were probably no “THIS, IS, SPAR-TA” *KICKs*, or sexy hoplites that had attractive sets of pearly whites and still looked hot even when sweaty and dirty.. BUT, a long time ago the Spartans (and Thebans and Thespians, HA, I have been studying) and Persians went head to head at Thermopylae!  It’s exciting stuff.  You must be thinking, “Wow Cheryl, you are DUMB”, but seriously, I can believe in Spiderman more than I believe in this shit.  If you really think about it: men fighting war with no guns, no tanks?  with actual SHIELDS?!  That just isn’t tangible!  Sadly, even radioactive spiders seem more realistic in this day and age. I think it’s amazing what people used to live without, and what we are capable of living without.

Wow, what I wouldn’t give to see a good old ancient fashioned throwdown.  Spartans, you are amazingly cool, but you don’t need a silly 21 (13) year old telling you that – still, I want you guys to know that you get the:
